IRENE LOWING
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Irene Lowing on Wednesday, June 1, 2016. Irene was 98 years of age and had been living in Oakview Place for the past year. Left to cherish Irene’s memory are her daughter, Carol (Dan); five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and three generations of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, James, in 2015. Irene and her husband, Walter, lived a significant part of their lives in the home that they built in Belair, Manitoba. Walter passed away in 1987 and Irene remained in the home that she loved. Irene leaves behind many wonderful, kind friends in the area. It was the help that she received from those cherished friends that enabled her to remain in her Belair home right into her 96th year. Irene was an active member of the senior’s club at Victoria Beach and enjoyed all of the activities that were offered. She kept a busy social life and rarely turned down an opportunity to try new things. Irene delighted in spending time with her family. All three generations of her grandkids brought her unique joy and she made a huge effort to keep up with what was happening in each of their lives. Irene was an excellent cook and loved putting on lunches and dinner for friends and family. Her yard and garden was a source of enormous pride and she tended to it carefully for all the years that she was able. Irene genuinely appreciated the beauty of nature around her home. An abundance of forest animals and a variety of birds shared her vast property bringing joy and entertainment to her days. A celebration of Irene’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. in Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street @ Manitoba Avenue. Interment will take place in Victoria Beach Cemetery at a later date. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the compassionate, caring and helpful staff at Oakview Place. The difficult and challenging work that you do to provide our loved ones with dignified living conditions at the most arduous time of their lives is enormously appreciated. God bless you. Our heartfelt thanks as well go to Irene’s Speech Therapist, Allison. Your visits were guaranteed to bring smiles, happiness and comfort.
