JAMES DANILEL DOUGLAS

It is with immense sorrow we announce the passing of James Daniel Douglas on Wednesday November 6, 2024. He passed peacefully at the Health Sciences Center with his close family by his side. Jim was a loving husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to so many. He will lovingly be remembered by all of his family and friends.

Jim grew up in the North End of Winnipeg. A personal history he was very proud of. There he made many long lasting and meaningful friendships especially while attending St. John’s High School. He carried those friendships throughout his whole adult life until his later years. Jim so enjoyed meeting and helping people. He had a way of making everyone feel important and heard. This was why he was often seen in grocery stores saying, “I knew them from the North End, I haven’t seen them in twenty (or thirty) years!” He made a lot of friends no matter where he was in life and remembered everyone. His compassion for those who were struggling in their lives was always clear. He dedicated 33 years of his life to his career in Manitoba Justice and retired as a Deputy Registrar for the Court of Kings Bench in 2016. Jim was always a beloved colleague who had everyone laughing a little more than they should. Which was the way he lived his life. Kind, compassionate, hard-working, intelligent and beautifully flawed.

He was predeceased by his parents Frederick Douglas and Ann McRae, and many more loving family members whom he loved very much. Survived by his wife of nearly 25 years Christina Donovan, daughter Ashlee Douglas and son-in-law Scott Newland. He will also be missed by his stepdaughter Lee-Anna Cramm (Clint Cramm), stepson David Daniels (Jennifer Daniels). Jim also leaves six grandchildren Kyla Turner (Justina), Cassidy Cramm (Janessa Cramm), Terrilyn Daniels, Torri Daniels, Timothy Daniels and Eric Newland-Neal. Also, four wonderful great grandchildren, Mika, Nico, Morgan and Wade.

Please join his family and close friends for a celebration of life for Jim on November 19, 2024 at 10:00 at Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel at 1020 Main St, Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Agape Table and dedicating it to Jim. Thank you to all the healthcare professionals and members of HSC emergency, GA5 for their dedication and care. Special thanks to Dr. Matthew Mclellend of GA5 who truly went above and beyond to care for our family when we needed it the most.
