JAMES (JIM) JOSEPH HANNON

FEBRUARY 20,1959 – MAY 13, 2022

It is with great sadness our family announces the sudden passing of Jim on May 13, 2022 at the age of 63.

He was pre-deceased by his parents George and Stephanie Hannon and survived by his sister Debbie, his niece Shannon, his nephew Sean and their families.

Jim was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba on February 20, 1959. He worked as a professional truck driver for the majority of his life. He always had a very strong work ethic and took great

pride in everything he did. That was the key to his success. He was never afraid of hard work, in fact, he was never afraid of anything. No matter what the challenge, he was a survivor, whatever came his way. He never compromised or gave up and always pushed himself to the limit.

A good friend and neighbour to all who knew him, Jim was always there for anyone in a time of need or to lend a helping hand.

Jim not only worked hard, he played hard. From the time he was a young boy, he loved the water. Yearly family vacations at Grand Beach swimming for hours at a time, barefoot water skiing wherever he could launch a boat, diving from 50-foot cliffs and scuba diving, he lived his life fearlessly. He enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting as well as fishing with friends at his favourit place, Lake of the Woods. He was a true outdoorsman.

He had a passion for vehicles and Harley Davidson motorcycles. Trips to Sturgis and bike rides with friends, wherever the road would take them. He loved the thrill of adventure.

He lived and died by the following quote by Hunter S. Thompson, Author of “Hell’s Angels,”

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and

well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up,

totally worn out and proudly proclaiming, “Wow, what a Ride!!”

We will all remember his magnetic personality, the fun that surrounded him and the way he could make a person smile or laugh just by being Jim. He was always full of life and lived forever young. We will cherish the countless “Jimmy” stories remembered and told by his many dear friends throughout the years and are very grateful to all who honoured his memory in their own special way. Thank you so very much for your love and support.

A private family service will be held prior to spreading his ashes over the waters of the Lake of the Woods, as per his wishes.

In Jim’s memory, please donate to the Manitoba League of Persons with Disabilities.
