JAMES RICHARD GREENAWAY

MAY 20, 1930-JULY 2, 2022

After many health complications, Jim passed away in his sleep in the early morning of July 2, at Maples personal care home in Winnipeg at 92 years of age.

James is survived by his son Ronald (Jayne), daughter Michele (Ciro), grandchildren, Jason, Charlotte, Paul, James and Andrew, his younger brother Donn (Nedra), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Marie, parents Ena Keeble, and James (Victor) Greenaway, brothers Bill, Bob, Grant, and sister Kaye.

James lived his whole life in St Vital and spoke very fondly of his early jobs in life, being a caddie, working in a restaurant, herding and milking cows, and did some road construction. He spent the last 40 of his working years at Gillis Quarries, and he always said they looked after him well.

For many years James was a member of the Lennox social club at Christ the King church, and volunteered at Tuesday night Bingo, and collecting in church, and counting after Sunday Mass.

Dad had made many friends at Christ the King and spoke of all of them all very fondly.

His service will be held Friday Sept 9, 2022, at 11:30 am, at Christ the King, Father Chrys will be presiding. Interment will immediately follow at Green Acres on HWY #1 east.

I’d like to gratefully and sincerely thank the staff at the Maples Personal Care Home for their kindness to my father at a very difficult time in his life
