It was an honour to have known Jan and his family. Memories of country trips, enjoying nature, BBQs, and evenings and special occasions that we shared together, will be forever treasured. You genuinely touched many lives around you and kept your family first and most important. We will sadly miss you, your profound wisdom and your humour! Love and prayers to all the family.

I'm very sad to hear of the untimely passing of Jan, with whom I shared a hospital room at St. Boniface hospital in January, 2009. To his wife, whom I got to know and very much appreciate, I would like to express my heartfelt sorrow. I spent 5 days next to Jan and we had many enjoyable discussions as we shared countless perfectly awful meals. I’m deeply saddened.

Jan was a great friend, teacher and co-worker that was very passionate about his job as a Residential Treatment Worker!! The crew at Kilkenny often referred to him as the Grand-pa and Santa Claus of Kilkenny! I will dearly miss his witty sense of humour! xoxoxo

Jan's wit and sense of humour were unique. He lived a life full of miracles and he taught me how to see them everywhere - in the minuscule and in the grand; in an ant, mosquito and a tiny flower, in a black bird, in majestic Oak tree or in the Maple tree leaf. For Jan, the sound of a distant train horn at the night time, a white snowflake or frozen blade of grass were equally precious wonders.Over the last 30 years Jan shared with me many of those unique, precious gifts he found. He used to say: 'All one needs is to stop in the daily rush just for a few seconds and... see'.The Nature will miss his hold of the wonder and I will miss my irreplaceable, dear Friend.
