JEANETTE (JAN) FARDY (nee VOKEY WHITEHILL) November 2, 1929 – October, 7 2012 Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, with family by her side, Jan Fardy passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Oakview Place Personal Care Home at the age of 83 years. Left to mourn Jan is her dearly beloved and devoted husband of 35 years of marriage, Jim Fardy; her children Jim Whitehill (Denalda), Bev Tovey (Greg), Doreen Collins (Tom), Diane Phillips (Ross) Mike Fardy (Darlene); numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved first husband James Whitehill; son Bob Whitehill; granddaughter Tonya; father Sam Vokey; mother Anne; brothers John and Buddy Vokey; and sister Evelyn MacInnis. Jan was born in Glace Bay, NS and moved to Winnipeg at the age of twelve. She met and married the boy next door and they proceeded to have five children. Jan worked at Eaton’s, Locomart and IGA and retired from CAA. Upon her retirement she and Jim enjoyed many happy years bowling, golfing, Jim’s Senior’s baseball and numerous trips down south and out east. She led a busy, active life up to her illness. On Friday, October 12, 2012 Jan’s Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue.
