My beautiful Joanne, I had the distinct good fortune of having met you at Ste. Anne Collegiate in our grade 10 year. I was much more nervous than I let on and sought a kindred spirit and that is just what I found when I met you. From the first time we met, I was drawn to you and In so many different ways. Here sat the most beautiful girl but Jo, you were beautiful both inside and out. Your laugh absolutely lit up a room and when you smiled at me, it made me a better person. Our friendship continued for years and through constant silly arguments and debates. I always threw shade at your teenage crushes but that’s only because I was so jealous of them. We watched Y&R every day after school and often called each other Victor & Nikki Newman “I can’t believe you had the audacity to do such a thing Nikki darling”. As time went on, we became inseparable, I think it’s safe to say you were my very best friend. But like many friendships, we would go our separate ways, and life just seemed to keep us apart for such a long time. I would talk with you on occasion or see you in a chance meeting but we both had different places to be at that time. Years later I had the privilege of rekindling our friendship during what would be the biggest fight of your life. It is during this time that I discovered your true strength, beauty, and grace! As you fought this terrible imposter, I witnessed firsthand what an absolutely amazing woman and warrior you were and how incredibly fortunate I was to share time with you in this life! During this last battle, I saw you fight with all you had and during that time, I never saw you dwell on the negative. You amazed and inspired me more than you know. My precious Jo, I love you so very much and I always will. XOXO VICTOR NEWMAN aka Richard

Joanne taught me much about grace, being graceful in spite of difficulties thrown your way. She changed everyone who she met, of that I am sure.
