JOHN LEITH BAIRD
 
   Peacefully on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the Health Sciences Centre, John Leith Baird, age 72 of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away.    Left to cherish John’s memory are his wife Hughene Baird; children Shelley Johnson (Neals), John Jr., Bruce (Denise), Marcia Smith (Dale); and grandchildren Austin, Kendra, Erik and Sara.  He was predeceased by his parents Leith and Eileen, and his brother Robert.   John’s career of 35 years at Bristol Aerospace started as an Engineer and progressed to Director – Propulsion Products (Black Brant and CRV 7) and Director – Rockwood Plant.   John loved his family deeply and he enjoyed sharing his passions of travelling and cottage time with his family. Other activities that John liked were curling at the Charleswood Curling Club, golfing at Breezy Bend CC (where he was known as the Minister of Defense/Rocket Man), lunches with the Boys at the Legion, and spending summers at his cottage that he built 45 years ago.   The family would like to thank the paramedics, all the doctors and nurses from the Neurology and SICU departments at the Health Sciences Centre for the excellent care that John received.   In accordance with John’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
