JOHN SIGURMUNDER PHILBIN
June 9, 1941 – August 26, 2023

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of John on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 82, with his loving wife by his side.

John was born in Churchill, Manitoba, where he met his loving wife, Gail.

John was predeceased by his parents and sister Diane Erickson, brother-in-law Bill Erickson, and sister-in-law Janet Gress.

John is survived by his wife Gail, Sister Terry Rakowski, brother-in-law Arnold Gress. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sad news about my dear John. Following a brief illness in hospital, John passed away Saturday evening. I Took John to the Urgent Care Centre at Concordia Hospital as he was getting weaker. A few days later John aspirated and was put on a ventilator and then transferred to an ICU. A scan was done, and they found John had a massive stroke and they said the best thing would be to remove the tube. They waited for me to get there and shortly after the tube was removed. John was able to speak rather softly so we had quality time together. John was given sedation, so he passed away peacefully.

I will miss him dearly as our 49th wedding anniversary would be this November.
