I was so very sorry to hear of Morley's passing via Fort Whyte. Years ago I enjoyed playing tennis at Winnipeg Lawn Tennis with Morley and was so pleased to reconnect with him and to meet Donna recently at Fort Whyte. My heartfelt sympathy to Donna and the family.

So sorry to hear of Morley's passing. Fortuitously and happily, we had re-connected with each other at NAFR seminars in the past two years, following our mutual retirements from the AAFC Cereal Research Centre in the early 2010s. Morley must have been one of the first persons I met after arriving in Winnipeg in 1973 to take up my position at AAFC, as I suspect he was already then working with John Mills, to whom I had been given an introduction by a mutual friend. Morley was always helpful and friendly in those early days and continued to be so over the next decades. He will be missed by all his former work colleagues. My wife and I extend our sincere sympathies to his wife Donna, daughter, and other family members. Andy & Ruby Tekauz

The Touring All-Stars slo-pitch team has lost another of its original players. Morley will now be hitting his long home runs with Lou Martin and John McDonald, his teammates with whom he also played hockey for Crescentwood old-timers. We all remember the many trips to Fargo for the Can Am Games and the stories that go with them and our provincial championships where Morley was a major contributor. On the ice, Morley also played for many winters with a great group on Wednesday nights at River Heights CC and they also will remember Morley for his ability and perhaps his injuries. Rest in peace, old friend.

Sorrowful time for our family but great memories of our best friend for a lot of years. Great wonderful companion, superb athlete who I could never beat in tennis. I do wish we had stayed in touch more. He will be missed.

Morley was such a prominent figure in my life. He was close friends with my parents and always able to offer support and kindness to anyone. I grew up with his daughter Tamara and their family was my family. As I said to Tamara the other day, we lived a mini lifetime together. The Thompson family sends their love to all who are in pain missing him. Xxoo Terri
