Joseph David Doucette
July 7, 1950 – August 15, 2025

Joseph David Doucette passed away peacefully at the age of 75 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, surrounded by family and love. Born on July 7, 1950, in Alberton, Prince Edward Island, David lived a life defined by hard work, kindness, family, and love.

David spent most of his career as a passionate and dedicated truck driver, navigating both long-haul and short-haul routes across the country. He took great pride in his work, embracing every mile with purpose and integrity. He often spoke of his colleagues and the supportive, generous spirit that defined his workplace—management and coworkers alike—whose kindness and compassion he deeply valued.

Outside of work, David loved a good game of cribbage, cherished time with family and friends, and was known for his storytelling and ability to make people laugh. Whether sharing a story over coffee or “skunking” a family member in crib, he had a way of bringing people together. Always ready to lend a helping hand, David will be remembered for his generosity, humor, and calm, gentle presence.

David is survived by his partner, Therese (Terry) Bernardin; his daughters, Sherry Doucette and Tania Franzmann; and his beloved grandchildren, Lynden, Gabriel, Aubrey, and Austin. He is also survived by his siblings: Edward, Jean, Irene, Carol-Anne, Rita-Ann, Vincent, Martha, Mary, Theresa, and Paul. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Clovis Doucette, and by his brothers, Jimmy and Victor Doucette.

In keeping with his wishes, a small gathering will be held to honour his memory at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice in David’s name are welcome, though not necessary.
