Joseph FRANCOIS Mahussier Joseph F. Mahussier passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at the Charleswood Care Centre, just a month short of his 93rd Birthday. Remaining to forever cherish Joseph’s memory are his wife of 73 years, Louise; four sons, Dennis (Sharon), Jerome, Michael (Gloria) and Cary (Donna); ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. On January 13, 1923 Joseph was born in Star City, Saskatchewan. He spent his early years working in the bush camps. In 1939 he moved to Flin Flon, Manitoba and worked in the dairies until July 1941, when he was hired on at the Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Company, where he worked for 41 years. In January 1942, Joseph joined the R.C.A.F. and after several postings in Canada, was discharged in 1945. In the fall of 1942 he married his wife Louise. After his discharge they returned to Flin Flon and made their home there for forty years where they raised their family. In 1981, Joseph took early retirement from (H.B.M. and S) and moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba where he took a job for several years at Supreme Racquet Court as a maintenance man. He was an active member of the St. James Knights of Columbus, doing volunteer work in the Parish of Saint John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, as well as the League for Life, an organization to which he was very committed. Joseph loved and supported his family and will always be remembered and cherished. Mass of the Resurrection will be Celebrated on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in Saint John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, 3390 Portage Avenue with Rev. Fr. Robert Polz, presiding. For those who wish, viewing will be held prior to the Mass. Interment will follow in Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue. Pallbearers will be from the Knights of Columbus. Honorary Pallbearers will be from the 4th Degree, with Captain Miles MacDonnel Assembly. The family would like to thank Dr. Raubenheimer, the home care workers, the Grace Hospital Emergency staff, the staff at Parkview Place Care Centre and finally the staff at Charleswood Care Center for their excellent and compassionate care of Joseph in the final months of his life. Thanks to the friends, parishioners and neighbours who have been a tremendous support over these last few years.
