Joe was an amazing man. I worked with him but did not really get to know him until we had a chance meeting on a golf course after his retirement. He was one of a rare breed of individual with a deep academic curiosity and athletic interests. He was an avid reader of all things science, an accomplished bridge player and loved his Blue Jays, the Winnipeg Jets and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Farewell Joe. You will be missed.

Our deepest condolences to Joe’s family and close friends. Joe was always a friendly, happy person to be around. Joe worked with me for a couple of years at the Environment Canada Military Meteorological Training Centre at CFB Wpg and Rob worked with him at the Winnipeg Weather Office. It was a privilege meeting and working with Joe.
