Juliana Joan Reimer (nee Cherniak)

December 29, 1940 – April 19, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Juliana (Julie) Joan Reimer at the age of 82. Julie is predeceased by her late husband, Robert (Bob) James Reimer, who passed away in 2015. She leaves to honour her memory: James, Terry and Diane. She will also be remembered by her grandchildren: Joel, Michael, and Rheanna.

Mom grew up in Winnipeg and was the youngest of five children. In 1956, she married Bob; they were devoted to each other for 59 years. Together they shared large home cooked meals with close friends, took nature walks, and travelled.

Mom was always at the ready should any of her children need her: we remember the peaceful whir of the sewing machine well past midnight as she carefully sewed doll clothes, we remember large family dinners at various times of the year, and most of all, we remember her great love for her family.

She had a great love of animals that was passed down to her children. Various cats, kittens, dogs, rabbits and even a horse became family members. When the children moved out and had their own families, she always had a dog and/or a cat in the house. Animal service agencies knew to call her when kittens were abandoned and needed a foster home.

Mom loved working as a Nanny.  She enjoyed being with children and looked forward to her daily outings with her charges.

We will miss Mom’s take charge manner, her open, forgiving heart, and her prideful announcements of her family’s many accomplishments. Mom, your presence will always be with us as we make our way in the days to come.

Cremation has taken place. Please respect our family’s privacy as we mourn our loss and celebrate your fond memories of Julie in your own way.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to either the Winnipeg Humane Society or your favourite charity.
