I had the great pleasure of working with Karen at Stony Mountain Institution. First of all, Karen was extremely good at her job, knowledgeable, and smart as a tack. I was often able to resolve what seemed like very complex challenges by simply going to Karen first. She had a way of not only understanding a problem, but also in being able to explain the solution in a way that made sense. Secondly, Karen was always just a genuine joy to be around. Her smile and laugh were infectious and she always seemed to have a sunny disposition despite the environment we worked in and the issues we sometimes had to deal with. This also seemed to rub off on everyone in the Sentence Management office she worked in. Once I started working for our National Headquarters, I would visit SMI rarely. I was always sure to drop by her office to say hello and have a quick catch up chat. I am truly sorry for your loss but I hope you know how much Karen meant to her co-workers as well.

I worked with Karen at SMI. She was a light! She was an amazing boss and coworker to everyone who had the privilege to work with her. She was so smart and knowledgeable in her roles at work and a great friend who supported and gave of herself to anyone lucky enough to be in her orbit. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten. RIP Karen.
