KARL JUSTL
October 1, 1930 – April 18, 2017

On Tuesday, April 18, 2017, Karl died peacefully in his sleep at the Victoria Hospital, at the age of 86 years.    Remaining to cherish Karl’s memory are his wife of 52 years, Carol; their three children Karen (Frank), Richard and Diana and grandchildren Alexa and Mitch.   On October 1, 1930 Karl was born in Linz, Austria. He came to Canada in 1952 and settled in Winnipeg where he worked at Bristol Aerospace for 42 years as a machinist. It is also at Bristol where he met Carol. They were a trophy-winning couple on the Bristol bowling league.   Karl was an avid sportsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a long-time member of St. Hubertus Game and Fishing Association. He was also actively involved in his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events as a fan, a driver who would shuttle players for post-game burgers and treats and later as the king of the $5 handshake—Karl’s post-game tradition with Alexa and Mitch.   Karl enjoyed a lengthy retirement and filled his time visiting auction sales, going to The German Club, Assiniboia Downs and McPhillips Street Station with Carol, and spending time with family. Family meant everything to Karl and he never passed up on an invite to a family barbecue or other gathering.   Some of Karl’s most memorable remarks—including “Okey-dokey” and “Yup, that’s life”—were also some of his funniest because he typically said them to signal that you’d talked to him enough.   Karl was always there to lend a hand but seldom asked for a favour in return. That was his humble nature. He was loved dearly and his family is grateful to have had such a long and memorable life with him.   In compliance with Karl’s wishes, no formal Funeral Service will be held.   Wojcik’s Funeral Chapels & Crematoriums, Winnipeg, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204.897.4665 www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com
Karl, Dad, you will be missed.
