Keira Bond
January 12, 2006 - June 14, 2017
KEIRA SAMANTHA BOND On Wednesday morning, June 14th, 2017, our sweet, precious angel on earth, Keira Samantha Bond, continued her journey to be with Jesus Christ our Lord. Our family – Gary, Toni, Joshua, and Nyja – is heartbroken. We’ve lost our baby, our bright light, our beautiful 11-year-old champion. Keira will be forever loved and so dearly missed by Gramma Stephensen, Grandma and Grandpa Bond, Uncle Mitchell and Auntie Candace (Sara and Mary), Uncle Michael and Auntie Allison (Jordan, Sean and Alexandra), Auntie Tracy and Uncle Blaine (Amy, Erin and Dean), Uncle Myles, Uncle Maury and Auntie Lianne, Auntie Tyla and Uncle Darryl (Madison and Grayson) and many more extended family members and close friends. There is nothing Keira could not do. Keira attended St. Charles Catholic School where she excelled and was a talented piano player, violinist, and vocalist. She loved baseball and ringette and #12 was well-known for her spirit, tenacity, and drive on the ice. Keira had such a fun-loving spirit and people were naturally drawn to her. Keira was compassionate beyond measure. Her love for people – all people – is what inspired her, and us, daily. This included all of God’s creatures, especially her puppy Harper. Keira’s faith was so important to her and she loved altar serving and praying for others. She was thrilled that she was to make her Confirmation alongside her older brother and sister. Keira’s favourite time of year was Christmas. She loved the story of Jesus’ birth, but could also be seen celebrating Christmas in the middle of summer. Keira loved everyone and loved life to the fullest; we all should view the world through her eyes. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 22nd, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, 3390 Portage Avenue with Rev. Fr. Robert Polz presiding. We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Issaivanan, Ashleigh, Kathy, Tina, Dawn, and all of the dedicated staff at CancerCare Manitoba and Children’s Hospital who give everything they have to all the children in their care. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who has supported us on this journey. Your love, caring, and prayers helped sustain us throughout this incredibly difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations made to Keira’s Krusade at any TD branch across Canada would be greatly appreciated. After her diagnosis, Keira began Keira’s Krusade to help others with cancer, and all funds collected will be donated to combat Pediatric Brain Cancer.
