KIMBERLY ANN MARTENS

(nee BURDZ)

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of our dear Kim on August 13, 2024, following a very brave and courageous 4-year battle with cancer.

She will be deeply missed by her husband and best friend of 44 years, Willy, daughter Ashley Kreml (Greg), daughter Melissa Woodworth (Mike), and cherished grandchildren Tenley, Branson, and Hunter. Kim was predeceased by her dad (Walter Burdz Sr.) and father-in-law (Louis Martens). She is also survived by her mom (Josephine Burdz), her mother-in-law (Wilhelmina Martens), her brother Walter Burdz (Susanne), her brothers-in-law Chris Gaynor Martens (Deborah) and John Martens (Kara), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and beloved friends.

Kim was an exceptionally caring person, with a tremendously warm and welcoming heart for everyone she met. Her friendly nature always focused on the good in people. She had a real zest for life, family, friends, and her favourite pastimes (enjoying shopping, having get-togethers with others, taking annual trips to Mexico with close friends, and being a devoted and loving grandma). Most recently, one of her biggest joys was heading south to Mexico on family trips to make special memories and spend precious time with Willy and her daughters, sons-in-law, and grandkids.

She was the very definition of a life well-lived, and everybody that was blessed to have known Kim will always remember her.

The family wishes to express its sincere thanks to Dr. Paul and his team at CancerCare Manitoba, and to the doctors and staff at St. Boniface Hospital for the care and comfort provided to Kim during the past 4 years.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel (1020 Main St., Winnipeg).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.
