KVETA  MATOUSEK

February 11, 1944- February 11, 2023

Peacefully, with her children by her side, Mom left this earth on her birthday to start a new adventure with her soulmate, Voita who welcomed her with open arms. Kveta is survived by her son Mark (Wendy); daughter Nora Duguid (Carl) along with grandchildren Dayton, Colten, Kaenen, Rory, Nyah, Everett and Reese and extended family in the Czech Republic. She joins her parents, Albert and Marie, brothers, Oldrich, Vlastimil, Miloslav and sister Marie.

Kvetoslava (nee Vodova) was born on February 11,1944 in Deblin, Czechoslovakia.  She graduated from Economics and started a career with PREFA where she met and fell in love with Dad.

Together, they decided to leave their homeland for a better life and embarked on a new journey. In 1968 they arrived in Belgium before immigrating to Canada in 1969. They were married on November 22, 1969 and made Winnipeg home.

While Dad worked as an Engineer Designer, Mom was a homemaker and took on part time jobs in the evenings when we were young and started working full time once we were older. She was employed as a Payroll Administrator by Hudson Bay Wholesale, Winnipeg School Division and retired from TRAF.

Mom was no stranger to hard work and was masterful at dreaming up new projects for her and Dad. Together they created many stone and woodwork masterpieces both in their home and at the lake.  Mom was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone, and possessed a kind, generous, nurturing nature to those around her.

In 1991, they purchased a property on Shoal Lake which became their sanctuary, filled with creative projects and fun filled times with the Bag Bay neighbors.  Her favorite moments were times with all of us together as a family at the cabin.

Mom and Dad enjoyed many years of travelling throughout North America and she returned numerous times to the Czech Republic to visit her family and friends.

Mom was very supportive in our competitive skating years and will always be remembered for her creativity in sewing elaborate costumes and other crafts. She was renowned for her wonderful baking, especially birthday cakes and at Christmas, where she had Dad involved in the production. Mom loved to garden and had a deep passion for all plants, flowers and her infamous rock collecting.

Mom touched the hearts of so many people and will be sadly missed for her warmth, kindness, creativity, and her generous, loving spirit.

The family would like to extend thanks to Rosewood Supportive Living and especially the staff at Actionmarguerite St Boniface for their care, compassion and comfort during Mom’s last months.

A Celebration of Kveta’s Life will take place on Thursday April 27 at 1:00 p.m. in the St. Boniface Golf Club, 100 Youville Street, Winnipeg.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or Winnipeg Animal Services Agency.

Mom, may you rest in Eternal Peace together with Dad.

You will forever be Our Sunshine
