Lawrence’s Funeral Service was held at 1:30 p.m. in Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive.Publish Date: Mar 16, 2013LAWRENCE STEPHEN JOSEPH MAYER May 3, 1933 – March 6, 2013 Unexpectedly, at the age of 79, Lawrence Mayer died on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the Grace Hospital. Left to cherish Lawrence’s memory are his loving wife Lesley; daughter Andra (Lyall); brother Norm (Betty); nephews Bruce (Elaine) and James (Val); many nieces and nephews; father-in-law Rob Irle; sister-in-law Jane (Denis); cousins Mary (Edwin), Joe (Lynne), Val, as well as numerous friends. He was predeceased by his mother and father Mae (nee Cawley) and Matt Mayer; cousin Steve Cawley; and his mother-in-law Marian Irle. Lawrence was born in Gypsumville, MB, and grew up on a farm. At 18, once he graduated from high school, he moved to Winnipeg. His first job was with a freezer company, and then he began his career with Land Acquisition, with the Manitoba Government. He spent the next 45 years in this department working his way up to a senior management position, where he made many long lasting relationships. Lawrence was highly regarded by everyone including all of his friends and coworkers. He treated everyone with respect and kindness. Lawrence was devoted to all his family and was a very loving and caring person. On Thursday, March 14, 2013, Lawrence’s Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. in Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive with a reception to follow. We want to thank the Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Services and the staff at the Grace Hospital.
