It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leander Norman Coutu, on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 87 years. Left behind are Leander’s loving wife, Aurea; daughters, Betty, Helen (Patrick), Denise (Bobby), Annette; sons, Zab (Sherry), Robert (Jean), Russell (Susan), Gilbert (Michelle), John, Junior (Garry); his sisters Angela (Ted), Anita (Bob) and brother Fern; as well as many relations; grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces; nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Alexandre Coutu and Berthe nee Klyne; siblings, Laurette, Denise, Rene, Tony, Girard, Gilbert and Oscar; sons, Frank and Frederick Coutu. Dad was born on November 23, 1929 in St. Laurent, Manitoba. He fished on Lake Manitoba and did landscaping in St. Laurent. He also worked for Winnipeg Cold Storage for over 20 years. On Friday, September 8, 2017, Leander’s Funeral Service will be held at Viewing is at 3:00 p.m. in Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street @ Manitoba Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
