Len, I just heard about Lea. I am so sorry and send my condolences to you and your family. I am so happy I was able to visit with you both for a while in Ottawa a couple of years ago. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I met Lea many times over the years at the annual Volkssport conventions. I appreciated all the time and effort she put into promoting and supporting our walking organization. I admired her positive attitude despite her health challenges. I'm sad that I didn't get to Winnipeg to visit with her as planned. Len, caring thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

We first met Lea while we were visiting in Winnipeg in 2002. We called up looking to see if there was a Volksmarch in the area. Lea joined us and showed us around her beautiful city. We later became good friends when Lynda served as the Atlantic Director the same time as Lea was Director of the Prairies and the North. We will always remember the hard work Lea did for the Volkssporting community with Len by her side to help out. She had a strong will, positive attitude, and a spirit that inspired us all. We will miss her. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.

I had never met you Lea but you had sent me out my first and 2nd badge as a walker. I thought then that you have a huge job and really never got the personal thank yous that come with working face to face with people. I hope you were aware of how much you were appreciated. May you be at peace as being a dialysis nurse here in Victoria know how difficult kidney disease is and what respect I have for those who meet that challenge with such strength, courage and dignity.

Over the years, Lea had been the President of the Windy City Walkers, CVF Regional Director for the Prairies and the North, and finally the National Awards Coordinator. In all these roles, being the kind and generous person she was, she helped promote our national walking program and countless individuals involved in it. She was ever positive and charming. I will always remember her beautiful smile and the twinkle in her eye. I shall miss her.
