In Loving Memory
LIONEL CLIFFORD PAGGETT
Lionel Paggett was born on July 23, 1954, in Winnipeg Manitoba. Lionel’s mother Terry Paggett and pre-deceased father Cliff Paggett.
Twenty-eight years ago, Lionel met his partner and his soulmate Dawn Bourroughs. Lionel instantly accepted Dawn’s two children Lana and Chad as his own.
Lionel’s immediate family tree consisted of the following: Lana, (husband Jason), grandchildren Blake and Easton) and Chad (wife Gillian, grandchildren Mackenzie and Emma).
Lionel’s siblings are Heather (husband Bernie, niece Nicole, nephew Reese), Laura (predeceased) (husband Clare, niece Krystle, nephew Scott), Susie (nephew DJ), Dale, and many other cousins.
Lionel led a very simple life, and he wouldn’t want it any other way. However, the things Lionel took very seriously was his Polka dancing and two-step. There was no argument he was the smoothest on the dance floor.
Lionel was best known for his witty attitude and soft gentle demeanour. When Lionel walked into a room of strangers it didn’t take him long to make friends amongst them.
Lionel always made room in his life for others and especially when it came too attending his grandson’s sporting events. Lionel would always argue he was their number one fan and in the end, there was no debating that … because he was!!
The last few years Lionel’s health slowly deteriorated, however Lionel remained positive, and his wittiness grew stronger day by day. It remained almost impossible to beat Lionel in a game of crib. Lionel had a great poker face during his favourite card game.
It’s with sadness that Lionel passed away suddenly on March 17, 2023, at his home. Lionel will be missed by everyone that knew him and although he isn’t here, we all know he will always be around us all. Whether on the dance floor or on the sidelines at family events we will all know he is there with a huge smile on his face.
A viewing will be held at Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel located at 1020 Main Street in Winnipeg on Friday March 24, 2023. The viewing will be between 1-2pm. Later that day there will be a private celebration of life gathering.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation and The Humane Society Winnipeg.
Goodbye “Papa” we will miss you. xoxoxoxo
