LLoyd Weeres

September 26, 1930 - September 9, 2017

LLOYD WEERES
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Lloyd Weeres on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at River Park Gardens in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 86 years.   Lloyd will be lovingly remembered by his wife Irene (nee Jalbert) of 61 years of marriage; daughter, Brenda (Mike), grandchildren Logan and Lauren; son Brian (Shelby), grandson Jordan; daughter Arlene (Mike), grandchildren, Matthew, Geoffrey (Mandy), Kayley, Nicholas and Liam; numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his son Kevin; mother and father, John and Catherine Weeres; and his siblings Jean, Vernon and Kenneth   In 1930, Lloyd was born in Maxstone, Saskatchewan and raised on the Weeres homestead nearby.  As a young man, he left the farm and started working for Pool Elevators and the Co-op store in Assiniboia. He married the love of his life, Irene in 1955, and made many moves throughout Saskatchewan as they raised a young family. Lloyd and family moved to Roblin in 1968, where he took the position of General manager of the Roblin Credit Union.     Lloyd was actively involved in the community in Roblin, volunteering with many organizations such as Lions Club, Roblin Golf Course, Sacred Heart Church and Meals on Wheels to name a few. He was willing to help out anyone, whether it was driving a grain truck during harvest, fixing broken items, or driving those in need to appointments. He loved sports.  Lloyd curled and golfed throughout his life and loved to watch the local sports teams, especially the Roblin North Stars. In his retirement years, Lloyd enjoyed the comraderies and coffee with his many friends at the Roblin 50 and over drop in centre.   Lloyd was a strong family man. Countless hours were spent playing cards and games. He especially loved his grandchildren, taking them fishing, playing catch and teaching them how to play cribbage.   Lloyd was kind, considerate, honest, and trustworthy and will be sorely missed.   A funeral service will be held in Roblin at a later date. Condolences can be expressed at www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation.   Wojcik’s Funeral Chapels & Crematoriums, Winnipeg, 1020 Main Street, 204.586.8668 www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com
