Miss Madill was my teacher for four years and I've always remembered her with fondness. She was a no-nonsense lady but always fair with a good sense of humour that she would bring out like a present. I'm sure you'll miss her greatly.

I had Ms. Madill as a typing teacher, when I attended Kildonan East in the 70's. What I remember about her, was that she was a very classy lady. Her hair, clothing and make up was always so nice. I remembered thinking that when I got to be her age, I would like to be like her!I was glad to hear that she lived a full and adventurous life.

Aunt Lorna lived a long ways away during my life. She did however, leave a lasting impression. She was always classy, knowledgeable and well travelled. I used to love the elegance with which she would smoke her cigarettes with her sleek black cigarette holder, her beautifully shaped and coloured nails making her seem sophisticated in a movie star kind of way. I remember staying with her in her Winnipeg apartment and thinking ---- Wow!! This is the life! A small town Saskatchewan girl could barely take this in. We were fortunate to have Aunt Lorna stop to visit us when we were in Saskatchewan and Alberta. My last visit with Aunt Lorna was in July of 2014 when my sister Patti, my cousin Leanna and Aunt Phyl(Lorna's youngest sister) went to celebrate the life of Aunt Fran, another of Lorna's sisters. It was great to see her. She may not have known exactly who we were but she did know we loved her. I want to thank my cousin Rhonda for all that she did for Aunt Lorna. It is not easy to be making decisions and managing the lives and needs of others while at the same time managing your own. Your work has been appreciated. To Aunt Lorna, I acknowledge your passing and send you love. Be with Ethel and Fran and check in on the ones still on this earth from time to time. Love Brenda

Elegant, inimitable, indomitable 'Auntie Noni'. I believe it was either Rhonda or Jodi, two of her other nieces, who ? unable to pronounce 'Lorna' ? gave her the family nickname 'Noni': Rhonda went on to take faithful care of her during her final years. I remember Auntie Nonis affection for the adorable little grey poodles, including one tellingly named 'Mystique', who frolicked around her house on Moray Drive. Auntie Noni was the only one of her five sisters who didnt become a nurse; and I remember the many handsome beaux she left pining over the years, ultimately refusing to be tied down: however, when she fell hard for Steve Stancovic, who was dying of cancer, she married him and nursed him through his final illness. Two of her sisters Including my mother, Phyllis) were also teachers, and that was her calling. Once she retired from teaching, though, she hit the open road in her RV and never looked back. Like Brenda, I lived far away and saw Auntie Noni in fits and starts... but her glamourous, affectionate, fiercely independent presence made a deep impression on me. Au revoir, Auntie Lorna.
