LUC JOSEPH CATELLIER
JULY 29, 1948 -JANUARY 27, 2024

It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Luc Catellier, aged 75 years, with his family by his side.

He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Marlene of 53 years, sons Chris (Tanis) and Clayton (Laura): grandchildren Taylor, Carley, Brant and Nick. Luc will also be remembered by his sisters Jeannette (Jules) Gosselin, Denise (Brian) Holloway, and brother Marcel.

Luc was predeceased by his parents Charles and Alpheda, brothers Edward, Claude and Jean: his father and mother-in-law Murray and Gloria Ormiston.

Luc was born in Steinbach Mb., July 29th, 1948. His early years were spent on a farm in St. Elizabeth Mb., then the family moved to Charleswood and then to St. Vital. He was adventurous and always up for fun and mischief.

Luc and Marlene met in 1968 and were married May 29th, 1971. They were blessed with two sons and raised their family in St. Vital. Luc began working in the trucking industry. He briefly worked for CN Express and moved to Canada Safeway where he worked for 32 years. Even though Luc worked long hours and was frequently away from home, he was always there for Chris and Clayton. Their lives revolved around their boys and their love of hockey. Luc was selfless and sacrificed so his boys had everything they needed in order to be successful in life. The boys will be forever grateful. The family enjoyed their many trips together to Montreal, Toronto and BC to visit family over the years. Luc retired in 2008, he stayed busy by attending to the lawns and snow removal for the neighbours. Everyone knew him and he was known as the neighbourhood watch.

Luc was a very proud, supportive grandfather. He was known to them as Pappy. He loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. Even in his final days, he could be found standing behind the glass, at the end of a rink talking to someone about the game. Luc had a great sense of humour and he liked to play good-natured practical jokes. Luc was a really good person, always so willing to do so much for anyone who needed help.

Luc’s family would like to thank attending members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and all the staff at the St Boniface Hospital for their care and compassion.

At Luc’s request, cremation has taken place, and a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Arthritis Research Canada at www.arthritsresearch.ca.
