In Loving Memory
LUCY VIVIAN SENTON (BOTT)
OCTOBER 25, 1924 – MARCH 8, 2022
A true child of the Canadian prairies, Lucy was raised on a farm outside of Langruth, Manitoba in a large and loving family as the youngest of 14 children. She could ride horse and shoot partridge with any of the boys, and she loved listening to her father, Andrew, recite poetry and scripture from memory.
She married Glenwood Senton, a warm-hearted mechanic and life-long genius of repair, with whom she lived her life in Winnipeg. They raised two daughters, Claudia and Shelley.
She worked as a Dental Nurse with the City of Winnipeg and founded and was past president of the Dental Hygienists Association. Later in life she owned a successful second-hand clothing store. She was an avid gardener and cook and seemed to never stop working and caring for her business, home and family.
Lucy is survived by her daughter Claudia, four grandchildren whom she dearly loved and who adored her, Steve, Jonathan, Matthew and Tony, as well as three great grandchildren, Josie, Zev and Devyn.
She was predeceased by all of her brothers and sisters and many of her nieces and nephews, some born even before Lucy. She leaves to mourn her passing the remaining nieces and nephews. As well, the many friends and acquaintances cultivated through 97 years of living.
After the loss of her husband of 72 years and her daughter Shelley, she lived her last years quietly and could always be found with a book in her hand. She said she had been blessed with having had a wonderful family and a good mind.
Per Lucy’s wishes, there will be no service. However, internment, with her husband, in the Lakeland Cemetery will take place on a date to be determined in the summer. If you wish to attend, please contact at dklockow@shaw.ca.
And obviously in lieu of flowers, Lucy would love it if you made a donation to your favorite animal charity.
Rest in peace our dearest mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. The world is a better place because of you.
