It is with deep regret that we announce Marie’s peaceful passing on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the Grace Hospital at the age of 85 years. She was an active resident of the Metropolitan Kiwanis Courts. Remaining to cherish Marie’s memory are her six children, Lee (Debbie), John (Andrea), Lynn (Randy), Shawn (Linda), Kevin, Karen (Mike), her brother Alyre (Mary) and sister in law Teresa. She was a generous, proud and happy grandmother to 14 cherished grandchildren, Megan, David, Jennifer, Michael, Cody, Charles, Jason, Kailyn, Robyn, Carter, Bradley, Robert, Steven and Michelle and four great-grandchildren Lucas, Khloe, Lilianna and Nixon. Marie was a dedicated, fun-loving and attentive friend to so many – countless cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, all with whom she maintained contact and friendship over her lifetime. She was predeceased by her husband, Jeffery; parents Justine and Belonie; brother Henry; sister-in-law Mary and daughter-in-law Mary. Marie was a loyal partner to Jeffery and supported his military career – she was an expert at relocating! Everywhere she went, Marie created great memories, a loving home and made friendships that lasted her lifetime. Her memory was truly remarkable – she never forgot a name and could recount (in detail) the family adventures. Hailing from Summerside, PEI, Marie knew how to have the BEST kitchen party, play cards, sing and dance – always surrounded by family. She was a traveler at heart and until recently, spent her winters in Arizona. Every summer, Marie went back to Summerside to visit her family and when her oldest son Lee moved to Surrey, BC, off she went every year to visit. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2400 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, with Rev. Fr. Eric Giddins, presiding.
