Obituaries

I have known Martha for years. We went to the same Church, Prince of Peace Lutheran in Windsor Park. This is where Martha started the High Steppers Seniors Club. She also started the Prince of Peace Senior Social Centre Volunteers (POPSSCV) as a fundraising outlet for the Club. I started volunteering at the High Steppers Club as a Wednesday volunteer and met so many nice people, and wonderful seniors. I also joined the POPSSCV as a Board Member to help in the running of the two organizations. Martha had a dream to help seniors and their caregivers, by giving them a place to bring their loved one so that they could have a much needed break from the constant care that some seniors needed. Over the years hundreds of seniors and their families were helped by the love and care given by all the wonderful volunteers that helped at the High Steppers Club. In later years, Martha started an Agency Fund with The Winnipeg Foundation to also help with resources. Her hope was to keep the Club going for as long as possible and the Agency Fund would help us achieve this. Martha was a wonderful person who thought of others first, we will miss her very much.
