Sorry to hear of Marvin's passing. He was a fun person to know, as he was always cheerful. We knew him from days at Perth's in Brandon. My parents, Pat and Marg Johnson always enjoyed his visits. He was our wedding music man 43 years ago. He was my barber in Winnipeg before moving on to his personal businesses. He was always a mover and shaker - and a good friend to everyone.

I first met Marvin in 1977 0r '78 at the Manitoba Open Fiddling Championships in Fort Garry. He was the MC along with Al Jarvis and I grew up seeing these two for many years. Marvin was always passionate about fiddle music and his voice was heard for many years over CFRY at the Rotary Amateur Talent shows. My condolences to the family, you're in my thoughts and prayers.

Marvin, Marg, Karen and Patty were neighbours to us in Ft Garry. After they moved away they stayed lifelong friends with our family. Was at Robin's on Waverley the other day, which was the last place I saw you Marvin (Dad). When I walked in that day and we saw each other you immediately got up and came over and hugged me, it was so genuine, but that's how you were. I will always remember that. I am so sorry Marg (Mom), Patti, Rick and everyone that he was taken from you too soon.

When Marvin was in hospital he had many friends that dropped in to visit with him. He was always so happy they came and didn't want them to leave. It was the same when he was home for two months. He was never too tired to have company or to talk on the phone. He was more than delighted when his nephew, Gavin, came from London, England and surprised him with a visit. Brother Lloyd from Edmonton came on two separate visits following the one in the summer when the three brothers were together. Marvin's brother Glen was constantly by his side.Marvin never complained or let on that he was in pain. He was gracious and humerous to the very end.My sincerest sympathy to the Monk family for their loss.
