At peace after a courageous battle with cancer. Mel, as she was known as, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 68 years.

Left to mourn Mel’s passing are husband Jim; mother-in-law Doris; sisters Marilyn (Dave), Marlene; brother Melvin (Brenda); brother-in-law Rick (Rhonda); son-in-law Jim (Fiona); and many grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

In 1971Mel met Jim. After their first date, they were never apart. Mel worked for MTS in Winnipeg. Jim had a job transfer to BC so off they went on a new journey. While in British Columbia, Mel worked for several jobs before retiring from Bank of Montreal after 25 years. They moved back to Winnipeg to be with family and renew old friendships.

Mel belonged to the Red Hat Society with old friends from MTS. She also belonged to a quilting group from Country Villas where they resided. Mel also belonged to a group of ladies whom golf together from Country Villas.

Mel’s Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in the Buntain Chapel in Calvary Temple, 400 Hargrave Street with Mariatta Seargent officiating. A reception will follow.

I need to say a special thank-you to all of our friends in Country Villas for all your love and support through these trying times. You are all very special. Thank you to all of the doctors and staff at St. Boniface Hospital.
