Michael Walter
July 14, 1954 - November 25, 2015
MICHAEL KARL WALTER It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of Michael Walter on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the age of 61. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Brenda, his children Becky and Graham (Jolene), step-daughter Kelly (Juan), sister Barbara (Peter), grandchildren Sam and Emily, as well as Brenda’s entire family and all of the Mullins. He will be greatly missed as well by his dogs Polly, Megs and Ben. He was predeceased by his first wife, Lynda and his parents, Karl and Erika. Mike was a really amazing guy. He was born in Germany and immigrated to Canada with his family as an infant. He grew up in Boucherville, Quebec just outside Montreal. After some travel around Canada as a young man, he met his first wife Lynda and moved to Winnipeg. He always worked hard and was a loving and devoted dad to his kids. He held a variety of positions as a business manager over the years (primarily working with computers and cars), but especially loved working at NOTT Autocorp. Mike also volunteered his time on many different boards, and his big heart always lead him to help anyone he could. Most of all, he was a joker. Those who knew him best would say he was most famous for his sense of humour, and he was always quick with a pun or prank to make people smile. Mike was a jack of all trades and there was nothing he couldn’t repair, build or improve in some way. He was great at gardening and passionate about wood working. Mike was an artist when it came to crafting bowls and fine art pieces out of wood. He was fluent in four languages and enjoyed talking about ideas with anyone and everyone. Mike also loved music and was often serenading those around him with a selection of his favourite songs and/or a tune on the harmonica. Despite his silly side, he was just a really strong, capable man that had a way of making people around him feel at ease. We will all miss our Superman. The family wishes to extend its sincerest thanks to Dr. Norbert Viallet and the many dedicated paramedics of our city. In keeping with Mike’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. If so desired, memorial donations can be made to Cancer Care or a charity of your choice. Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel, 2157 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB in care of arrangements 204.897.4665.
