Monica Burns

(Née Zwarych)

September 18 1957 – August 12 2024

Peacefully on August 12 at the Grace Hospital surrounded by family Monica lost her battle with COPD and lung cancer. 

She leaves behind to cherish  her memory her devoted husband Ernie,daughter Rochelle,sisters Judy, Carolyn, grandchildren,Clifford,Michael, special nieces Darcie,Erin and Ashleigh as well as her most precious great grandchildren. 

Born in Winnipeg Monica spent all her life in the St James, Westood, Crestview area. Her first job was as a cashier 

at the Westood Safeway. Over the years she wore many hats but RBC was the one she loved the most. She so valued the friendship and support she received from her RBC colleagues.

Monica’s life was filled with many challenges until, she met the love of her life Ernie. Together they enjoyed many happy years together with their tabby cats Stinker and Buddy, as well as the friendships they made in the their condo community. 

Monica will be remembered for many things most notably the best borscht, potato salad and her famous Xmas cookies, her bigger than life personality and her kind heart. 

In accordance with Monica’s wishes no service is planed. Take a moment instead to remember her in your own special way, raise a glass, say a prayer and share a memory. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Humane Society Winnipeg
