NANCY DARLENE ROUSSEAU
Nancy Darlene Rousseau (Gressman), a long-time Winnipeg resident passed away Monday, April 10, 2017 at the age of 82 years. Nancy will be sadly missed by her sister Carolyn Crayford; brother Doug Dillon (Carol); and many nieces and nephews in Winnipeg and across Canada. She was predeceased by Henry, her husband of 53 years; parents Evald and Dorothy Gressman; brother Gary Gressman and stepfather Clement Dillon. Mom was born in Duluth Minnesota. After the untimely death of her father, her mother remarried and moved the family to Canada. Mom married Dad as a teenager, and together they raised four children, Chris (Judy), David, Daniel, Laura (Gary). At a time when many women stayed at home Mom worked as a hairstylist, owned her own salon (The Debutant) and juggled the duties of raising a family. She had a loyal following, some of whom became lifelong friends. Mom loved animals and always had a furry/feathered companion be it cats, dogs, birds or even a raccoon. Most recently she would feed the deer and birds at her condo. She loved to bake, and cook. Who can forget her famous cinnamon rolls, Christmas snow balls, and shortbreads, many which never saw the occasion they were meant for. In her later years, Mom loved the company of her grandchildren, and great grandchildren Skye (Laura) Roslyn, Cella, Lyle (Christina) Alex, Ryan, Hayden and Annika. She was a Sunday regular at Christ the King Church, and for a number of years a member of the Catholic Women’s League. The family wishes to thank the staff at Riverview CD4, and her companion care supports Joan and Lay-Lee. Nancy will be laid to rest beside Dad at a private family ceremony. The date to be determined.
