Nicholas Fedorchuk

December 19, 1923 - December 13, 2017

Nick passed away gently in his 93rd year, departing quietly to pursue the next chapter. His legendary stoicism and disdain for being fussed over will be fondly cherished by his son Michael (Judy), grandson Michael Jr. and many nieces, nephews and family friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years of marriage, Jean; two sons, Robert and Barry; parents Dymetro and Anastasia; and five brothers, John, Mike, Peter, Alex and Bill.

Nick was born in Winnipeg but raised from a young age on a farm in Arnes, MB where he remained into adulthood toiling in the black loam (and rocks) of the Ridge until a grass fire left the family home and farm unviable.  His return to Winnipeg would lead him to connect with his future wife, raise a family and become a long term, proud employee of Greater Winnipeg Gas/Centra Gas until his retirement.

In retirement, Nick happily settled into a life of raising more tomatoes and vegetables than could possibly be consumed, uninterrupted viewing of a guilty-pleasure soap opera and coffee at Smitty’s Garden City with Jean.  Simple pleasures. Lasting memories.

In keeping with Nick’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Concordia Place for their years of compassion and care of both Nick and Jean when they needed it most.
