We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Nick, at the St. Boniface Hospital, at 86 years of age.
Left to lovingly remember Nick are his wife of 52 years, Genevieve; son Adam; daughter Candace Sawchuk (Dale); granddaughters Leslie (Cody) and Lauren; brother Mike and sister Mary La Pierre of PEI; as well as cousins; numerous nieces and nephews; relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Fred and Nellie; brothers Peter and Freddie; and two brothers lost in infancy, William and Harry.
Nick grew up in Brunkild, MB then very proudly served in the R.C.A.F. from 1956-1977 as an aircraft engine mechanic. He then spent many years as a school bus driver for King Transportation, which he loved, and the kids adored him. In his retirement Nick enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family. He was especially proud of his granddaughters.
Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in Saints Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor Street (at Stella Avenue). Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 4515 Main Street (north of perimeter).
Thank you to all the staff at St. Boniface Hospital and Deer Lodge Centre that cared for Nick over the last six months.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or Winnipeg Humane Society.
