NOAH IRVIN SNYDER
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Noah Irvin Snyder on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the age of 87 years, with his family by his side. Irvin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruth (Reiman); daughter Karen; son Rod (Trista and Christian); brother-in-law, Ed Reiman and his wife Liz; sister-in-law, Elsie Unger and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Ward and Peggy; brother Ward and sisters Molly Loos, Pauline Chant and Nora Kinsman. Irv was born in Manitou, Manitoba and upon graduation from high school at 16, joined the Canadian Armed Forces reaching the rank of Second Lieutenant before leaving the military at 19. After leaving the military, Irv then embarked on his long and successful career with Canada Packers/Maple Leaf Foods which took him to Rouen, Quebec, The Pas, Manitoba, Winnipeg, Manitoba and finally to the position of National Sales Manager at head office in Toronto, Ontario. Irv retired at the age of 60 to spend the winters in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida and summers at Lake of the Woods, Ontario. Irv’s passion was sports, from playing hockey to refereeing in the MJHL. He was an avid skier, was inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame and he was a force to be reckoned with on the tennis court, where he spent countless hours during his retirement. Irv had a love for fitness and was an active member of the YMHA in Winnipeg for many years. Irv lived a full and happy life, introducing his children to every sport imaginable and spending many family hours trailering throughout the US and Canada. He will be missed by those who knew him. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral. A private family service has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Irv’s memory to Parkinson’s Canada or to Golden West Centennial Lodge in Winnipeg where Irv was taken care of with immeasurable kindness since 2014.
