NORA MAY STEWART

(nee Botham)

November 2, 1928 – August 2, 2023

On August 2, 2023, our mother, Nana, Great Nana, Aunt, and friend. passed away at home with her family by her side.

Nora is survived by her children: Brenda Botham, William Stewart, Andrew Stewart (Chris), Anne Houlahan (Rick); Grandchildren Jayson, Todd (Denise) Shane (Gerry), Shannon, Heidi, Kailee,  Mackenzie, Dustin (Ashleigh), Alexis, Kristian (Yolanda) who will all tell you they were the #1 grandchild and in Mom’s eyes they were all her favorites. Nora also had 13 great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephew (the bus driver), whom she loved.   She was predeceased by her parents William & Phyllis Botham; brother Harry and sister Dorothy  Boutet.

Mom was a book of knowledge; she was graceful, kind, compassionate, honest and fair.  Born and raised in Winnipeg, she attended Cecil Rhodes school and graduated from Daniel McIntyre, where she later returned to work in the office till she retired.

Mom lived with her family in Germany, France and Alberta, eventually returning back home to Winnipeg where her heart always was.

Her family was her world. Mom always took in the strays. If you showed up at mealtime she always had an extra potato to throw in the pot so nobody ever left hungry.  Mom was the pillar of our family. She always knew what to say or do. She touched so many people and always had a kind word. She taught us how to smile when sad. She will be missed by so many.

Mom, “we’ll meet again” and you will always be “unforgettable”.  From the bottom of our hearts, thanks for holding on until we could get you home, so you could finally say “I did it my way.”
