Left to forever cherish Dad’s memory are his wife Barb; his children, Paul (Nancy), Darrin (Amy), Pat (John); grandchildren Mitchell, Ryan (Leslie) and Carly; Ryan and Leslie’s daughter Audrina and Ryan and Carly’s mother Erica; sisters May, Marg (Bud) and Linda; brothers Gord and Art; brothers-in-law Al (Daele) and Ken (Wendy); sister-in-law Bonnie (Ron); as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Murv and Wilf Burke. Born on December 3, 1936, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Murving Irene and Wilfred Joseph Burke, Dad attended school in Thunder Bay, Ontario. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces and attained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. Dad and Mom lived in a few places – including Ottawa, Kingston, and Germany, but most of their time was spent in Petawawa, Ontario, before being posted to Winnipeg, where he finally retired from the Forces in 1978. After retiring from the Forces, he worked as a security guard at the St. Boniface Hospital for many years. On Saturday, October 18, 2014, a small Family Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., in the Lasting Tribute Chapel, Chapel Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB.
