NORMAN RATTAI

December 23, 1925 – April 27, 2018

Norman Rattai passed away peacefully at the Charleswood Care Centre at the age of 92 years.

Left to survive Norman are his loving wife Beatrice of 66 years of marriage; sister Lillian Schreyer; brother Lloyd (Susan), and many nephews and nieces, Barry Schreyer (Karen), Jeanette Schreyer (Murray), Audrey Schreyer (Vaughn), Deane Feist (Gerry), Melony Templeton (Keith), and April Rattai (Keith). He was predeceased by his father and mother, Edmund and Rosalie Rattai; brother Ervin; sister in law Doreen; nephew Randy and niece Gail Rattai, and brother- in- law Tony Schreyer.

Norman was born and raised in Green Bay on a farm on the banks of the Brokenhead River, where he grew to love farming. He took great pride in the success of his crops. Norman and Beatrice were married in Waldersee in 1952. In the early years he would work in different bush camps cutting pulp. He even built a pre-fab cabin to take to the bush camp, so Beatrice could go with him. When Norman took over the home place he had it renovated to his liking. After retiring and moving, it was the beginning of several moves to beautiful new homes in Beausejour. After an injury to his back, he decided to travel to Germany and take many trips to Texas as a (snow bird). Norman also had some artistic and musical abilities. He did an excellent drawing of his grandfather sitting in the kitchen of the family home. He would also sing his heart out while milking cows.

A celebration of life in honour of Norman Rattai will take place on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel 1020 Main Street @ Manitoba Avenue, Winnipeg.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Heart & Stroke Foundation.
