It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Olive May Zeke, who passed away peacefully after many years battling dementia, at the age of 79 on October 10, 2023 at Golden Links Lodge, in Winnipeg, MB.
Olive was born on July 17, 1944 in Winnipeg, MB to George and Joyce Foreman. She grew up in the north end of the city in a small house on Bannerman Ave with 6 other siblings. Olive was a hardworking woman, having worked for both Riverview Health Centre in Food Service and Winnipeg Free Press. In her spare time she enjoyed watching soap operas such as Days of our Lives and The Young and the Restless. She was an avid radio caller and would win many cool prizes like a trip to universal studio’s California, and a ride in Tom Seleck’s red Ferrari. She also liked to buy scratchie lottery tickets and go out to watch movies and go dancing. She was a very happy friendly, funny lady who loved to tell jokes and wear flashy bright coloured clothing.
She will be dearly missed, and is survived by Sons Derrick Foreman (son), Ken Yanicki (Serena), Barney Yanicki Jr (Denise); Jo-Ann Yanicki (daughter); Grand-Children Kaeden Laferriere, Kierra Laferriere, and Kolton Laferriere; Grand-Daughter Harley Godden and Great-Granddaughters Frankie and Cici; Siblings Irene Sam, Dougie Foreman, Linda Mason (Len) Aleta Foreman (George) Debbie Foreman (Manuel) and James Foreman; Nephews John and Joe, Ed, Chris, Wayne, Mark and Krista and Manny, as well as many other great-nieces, nephews and friends. Olive was preceded in death by her husband William Zeke; ex-husband Barney Yanicki Sr; baby sister Georgina Foreman; nieces Annette (DD) Bignell and Amanda Jean Sam; as well as her beloved parents George and Joyce Foreman.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023 at Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel & Crematorium at 1020 Main Street in Winnipeg, MB.
