My condolences to Pete's family, may you R.I.P Pete. You were a kind, happy and generous man, I have such great memories of getting my allowance and going to get my little brown bag of candies, it was something. I then grew up to work for you in my early teen years. You taught me so much about how a store works and treated me with respect. It is so true what John had said, so very many people in the neighborhood would have gone hungry as Pete was kind enough to let us also have food till our mother got paid. Thank you Pete! I will always remember you with very happy thoughts.

I am sorry to hear of Peter's passing. Peter was a good man. Growing up in Fort Rouge I have great memories, going to the corner store after school & Peter would give me a little brown bag of full goodies, which lasted me 1 week. He was truly a gentle man & good hearted. My condolences to the family.

I saw Peter often for the 5 years when I, and some of my university buddies where renting a house on Fleet. All 5 of us were crazy 20 year olds that grew to admire and respect 'Pete - the corner grocer'. I always loved that area of town and it was because of people like Peter that it was such a great 'community' to grow up in. He was a great role model for us. Sometimes I drive through the area, look at the store, and wish I could visit with Peter again. I miss his warm gentle way. Recollections of Peter in his store always bring a smile to my face.Peter was a man I respected and someone that I will always miss.

Peter, Marilyn and Ray, your dad showed us how the retail business was fun while providing a service to the community. His positive and or constructive opinions were important in many of our lives. He treated me like a son along with my childhood best friend Peter Jr.

I met Peter while working at the funeral home and he was like a second dad to me. We always made time to have our little chats and would never pass up our chance to have Rae and Jerry sandwiches. We even went to Rae and Jerry for supper before going to a wrestling match, boy what a night that was!Rest in Peace my friend.

I still remember very fondly going to Pete's store. I loved getting a dime from Mom & stopping at the store to get some penny candy on my way to school...a whole little brown bag full!! Pete would even go out of his way to let you come buy things when he wasn't open if you needed it in an 'emergency'. Great Halloween treats, too! God Bless & RIP. A former Mulvey Avenue kid

I first met Peter as a young man working for a local soft drink company as a delivery driver. His store in Ft. Rouge was always a favourite stop for all delivery drivers as Pete always welcomed you and usually had a 'cold beverage' waiting. In recent years I seemed to bump into Pete at every funeral I went to, always the gentleman I remembered. Theresa and Gale and of course the whole family, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I knew Pete when I was growing up on Mulvey. He was such a generous man. He was like an uncle to many of us kids and our friendship continued right into high school. It must have meant a lot to him watching the kids in the area grow up and continue to come to the store for a visit. That's how you treat 'family' !!

Our families were very close and when my Dad passed away, Peter became my Dad and I really appreciated it. He was a great father figure and one that I have tried to live up to.

I have known Peter and Ray and they are both good men - probably reflective of great parenting. Their father was a real gentleman and many people I know throughout the community used to shop at the store where Peter would be sure to look after all of the things they needed. He was a good person - many people will remember him fondly.

I remember Peter well from my Naval day's and he will be remembered by me and those whose lives he touched. Helm hard over and sails set wide with a smile and the spray on his face.

Peter and I met when he started at the funeral home and with his magnetism became very good friends, even socializing after working hours. When we worked together on a service he always had a few extra mints in his pocket for me. It got to the point where I wouldn't even have to ask but just stick my hand in his jacket pocket and pull one out and Peter wouldn't even bat an eye. After my move to Dauphin we became estranged. I always said I should give Peter a call, but nah I'll call him tomorrow but now the tomorrows have run out. I often thought of Peter and that always brought a smile to my face. Riposa en Pace my friend.

I am now 53 years old and I will never forget the candies and toys that Peter and his Mother had given me when I was living in Fort Rouge. These were good memories as I drive by the store to go visit my parents. Angelo & Wilma send there condolences also.
