RAYMOND GEORGE ANDRYO
JULY 14, 1938 – DECEMBER 19, 2024

Dad (Ray) was born and raised in the Rossdale/St. Andrews area.

Dad is survived by his wife, Carlyle of 63 years of marriage. His legacy will live on through his children Michael (Carol), Grandchildren, Courtney, William (Ashley); Holly, grandchildren Brent (Jen), Britney (T.J. Yurasek) and Kara; and Terry (Maria), grandchildren Orysia (Maevan Qader) , Natalya (Jordan Morgan), Zenon (Bryn) and Zachary (Heather), and his five cherished great-grandchildren, Jackson, Mia, Everly, Oakland and Chloe. They will hold their memories of their GiGi Ray in their hearts forever. Ray also leaves to mourn his sisters-in-law Liz Andryo and Joanne Malkowich and numerous nieces and nephews
Dad was predeceased by his Father, Michael (1973), Mother, Jennie (1999), Brother, Eugene (2011) and his beloved Son, Corey (1990) whose death devastated him, and Brother-in-law, Steve Malkowich.

Dad had many character traits. He enjoyed baking (and eating) pies, berry and mushroom picking and tapping maple trees around his property in St. Andrews. He lived his entire life in a manner of following the traditions of his Ukrainian heritage with pride and drew his strength from his culture.

Dad was one of many founders who built the St. Andrews Community Club, and he also sat on their executive board. Dad was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and looked forward to sharing hunting excursions in November with his brother, Eugene, son Michael and grandsons, Billy and Brent. He supported and enjoyed attending Bomber and Jets games for decades. His most cherished events were supporting his grandsons and granddaughters at their sporting events and never missed watching Courtney play baseball, Kara & Britney play hockey or his grandsons play football. It was never too late in the day to travel to Arborg to watch Billy when he played with the Arborg Ice Dawgs; or to support and watch Terry and later Brent play football with the North-end Hawkeyes and Nomads. Travelling to Calgary to attend Zenon and Zachary’s football games was not an exception either. And in his later years he continued to enjoy watching Billy and Brent play hockey in their Beer Leagues.

Dad spent 69 years devoted and dedicated to his trade in refrigeration and he was ever so proud when Michael and Brent (Refrigeration Techs) & Billy (Mechanical Engineering) followed in his footsteps. Three generations in the trade is something to be proud of. Sales and service was his passion, and he refused to retire until 2018 following years in consulting even when living in Calgary.

Cancer is unpredictable and, in the end, only kindness matters. Kindness from the nurses from Palliative Home Care who supported Mom prior to Dad’s move to Riverview; the dedicated doctors and nursing staff at Riverview; family and family friends and acquaintances who helped to get us all through the dark days.

Memorial donations in Dad’s memory can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba.

Dad died a wealthy man – not in means of possessions, but in the richness of family and friends.
