Rene Joseph John Pfaiffer

October 17, 1934 - November 22, 2021

RENE PFAIFFER

Rene passed away peacefully on November 22, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer at St. Boniface hospital aged 87 years.

He was born to the big and loving family of John and Rose Pfaiffer in 1934 in St. Boniface.

Rene joined the Royal Canadian Airforce in Montreal where he first discovered love for flying. While in Montreal he met his wife of fifty years, Nellie. The two fell in love instantly and got married. They started their family in Montreal but eventually moved back to Winnipeg before the birth of their youngest.

Though Rene moved on from his career in the Royal Canadian Airforce, he began pursuing his ever-growing love for flying. Rene became certified in both piloting and rescuing in no time. He even volunteered in the Civil Air Search and Rescue multiple times. Rene took to the skies so naturally, as if he was born to fly. He eventually purchased his own set of wings to fly with.

Rene continued flying throughout most of his life, even after his retirement. He met his partner Gloria later in life and spent his last years happily traveling together until his untimely departure.

Rene is survived by his partner Gloria, his son Peter and daughter-in-law Nadya, and his granddaughters Claudia and Valery.

He was preceded in death by his wife Nellie and his son Michael.

Rene will be remembered by his kind smile, his boundless energy, his contagious optimism, and of course his love and passion for the skies.

Rene will be interred with his wife Nellie and son Michael in New Brunswick.
