RENE MICHAEL FABIAN JONES

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rene Michael Fabian Jones on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Riverview Health Centre, Winnipeg, MB ending his battle with COPD.

Rene was born on September 29th, 1963, to the late Phillip and Elizabeth (Lean) Jones. He began his life in Toronto, ON before moving to Upsalquitch, NB where he resided for most of his school age years. In September 1982 he moved to Winnipeg, MB to attend post secondary school as an electrical technician and later obtaining his welding certification. This certification would be his chosen career for decades.

Rene is survived by his son Michael Jones, son Jonathan Mentuck, sister Deanna Sabatier (Kenneth), sister Laurie-Ann Nichol (Craig), sister Sheri Moore (Kenneth), numerous nieces/nephews and extended family.

Rene was predeceased by his spouse Sandra Mentuck, daughter Amanda Mentuck, father Phillip Jones, mother Elizabeth Jones (nee Lean) and brother Randy Jones.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Riverview Health Centre staff for their compassionate care during Rene’s stay over the past two years.

A private celebration of life will be held with family and friends at a date to be determined.
