November 5, 1946 - September 15, 2016

RICHARD (RICK) STANLEY COLE

It is with heavy hearts the family announces the sudden passing of Richard “Rick” Cole on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, at the age of 69 years.
Rick will be forever loved by his wife, Nancy Cole (nee Bannatyne) of 42 years of marriage; children, Jodi (Jamie) and Ryan (Julie); grandchildren, Keinan, Beaudy and Porter; sister, Alice Cole; Chris; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Julie Ann Daunte; father, Earl Cole; and mother, Gertrude Cole.
On November 5, 1946, Rick was born in Toronto. He moved to London, Ontario as a young boy and grew up there until 1967 when he joined the RCMP. All of Ricks postings were in D Division at Morris, St. Pierre, Norway House, Charleswood (where he met the love of his life), Minnedosa (where his children were born), Churchill, Winnipeg and Portage la Prairie where they retired after 31 years in the RCMP. Rick went on to another successful career selling real estate with Century 21/Andrich Realty for a number of years. He and Nancy moved back to Charleswood five years ago where he meticulously puttered around the house making it perfect. Rick enjoyed many years of coaching hockey and being involved in his kid’s sports. Rick enjoyed reading, spending time with his family, cheering on the Bombers and the Jets and taking the family dog for walks.
A Funeral Service will be held in Rick’s honour on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in Charleswood United Church (where he and Nancy were married), 4820 Roblin Boulevard, Winnipeg, with Rev. Dr. Michael Wilson, presider. A private family Internment will be held at a later date.
Thank you to Dr. Kumar and his team at CancerCare Manitoba, as well as Tracy at CancerCare Manitoba, the doctors and nursing staff at HSC ICU/CCU and GD6 for their compassion and caring.
A Special thank you to the RCMP Veterans and the RCMP Honour Guard.
Donations in Rick’s memory can be made to The Slain Peace Officers Fund or a charity of one’s choice.
