ROBERT W. BURLEY

April 25, 1942 – March 7, 2018

It is with great sadness that the Burley family announces the sudden passing of our beloved husband, dad, grandpa, brother, and friend, Robert (Bob), on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at the Grace Hospital, Winnipeg. Bob is survived by his wife, Faye, of 53 years, his sons Ian (Michaela), Brent (Shanna), and Andrew (Danielle), grandchildren Katherine, Hunter, Grace, Cade, and Laine, brothers Tom, Charles, Bruce, Roy, John, and Bill, sisters Audrey and Christine and all of their spouses, as well as his many nieces and nephews, and Hooper in-laws. Bob was predeceased by his father, Thomas and his mother, Christina, and parents-in-law, Everett and Leola Hooper.

Bob was born and grew up in Toronto. A career move brought the family to Winnipeg in 1979 where we soon developed a very close family of friends with whom we spent much time camping and celebrating special occasions. His career was focused in the sale of computer systems and services. After “retirement,” Bob transitioned to sales for Uretek (Poly-Mor), where he enjoyed meeting with clients in the community and helping meet their needs.

Bob volunteered for many organizations, particularly those involving hockey at Westdale Community Club and president of APHA. He enjoyed spending his spare time fishing on Caddy Lake, woodworking, and golfing. He was happiest when he had a project, especially when it was something for others. Retirement at Vasa Lund was an extension of Bob’s desire to be a friend to everyone and a helping-hand to many. Bob cherished his time with neighbours, family, and friends, especially his grandchildren. Also, over these many years, Bob maintained close friendships with his special high-school buddies and their wives.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at the Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd. Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Grace Hospital Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
