ROBERT ?BOB? SCHULTZ
With heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing of Bob, our beloved husband, best Dad, loving son, outstanding brother, super uncle and great friend on Friday, July 24, 2015 at the Victoria General Hospital at the age of 57 years. He died peacefully surrounded by his devoted wife Gale and loving children Lauren (Jeff) and Blake.
Bob will be lovingly remembered by his mother Edna Schultz; sisters Susan Wagner, Brenda (Tony) Fuchs and Bonnie (Mark) Ward; and his brother Steve (Marina) along with in-laws George and Shirley Christbason and sister-in-law Bev (Harold) Presley. He is the much loved uncle to several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his father R.W. Schultz; infant sister Sandra and sister-in-law Brenda Goldstone.
Throughout Bob?s adult life he faced many health challenges but he did not let these define him. With the support and care of his loving family he lived a full life. The last five years Bob has battled end stage kidney disease and was on dialysis. The last few months have been difficult as he fought through complications following heart valve replacement surgery in November.
Bob was born in Ottawa and grew up in Regina and Ottawa. He graduated from the University of Regina in 1982 and started his career with Canada Border Services at North Portal, Saskatchewan in 1983 and moved to Winnipeg Airport in 1987. Bob loved his work and was saddened to retire in 2013 due to health reasons. His shift work when his children were young allowed him to spend quality time with them and build a very special bond. He kept busy with extracurricular activities, many which revolved around the kids ? managing Blake?s hockey teams, coaching baseball, lunch monitor at school, field and school trip volunteer. Nothing was more important to Bob than his family. He umpired baseball for many years which he really enjoyed, he worked for TSN during their Blue Bomber broadcasts and did contract work for Hockey Manitoba teaching hockey safety programs. Bob was a huge sports fan and supported all of Winnipeg?s sports teams ? the Jets, Bombers and Goldeyes. He loved the Chicago Blackhawks, Cleveland Browns and San Diego Padres ? all of which he traveled to see play live over the last five years despite being on dialysis. Bob loved fishing and was the self-proclaimed ?Fishing Magician?. He planned an annual fishing trip for friends and family to Rocky Lake, Manitoba for the past 32 years.
Bob was unforgettable ? he had an outstanding sense of humour with quick wit and made a lasting impression on everyone he met……he will be truly missed. THE MAN, THE MYTH, THE LEGEND!!
A Celebration of Bob?s Life will be held on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Assiniboia Downs, 3975 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba with Pastor Stacy Moroz, presider.
