RONALD WALKER

We are saddened to announce the passing of Ronald (Ron) Walker on the morning of August 16, 2025, at the age of 87. Ron was born on January 22, 1938 in Winnipeg, and remained there to ā€˜live the good life’ by raising his family and contributing to his local community.

Ron transitioned to the next phase at the Grace Hospital after treatment by the caring team of health care workers and support staff. He was surrounded by love from his surviving family and friends during his last weeks and will be deeply missed by all.

Ron was a passionate, caring and creative individual, interested in all things related to news, global events, art and communication. Often called ā€œWalker the talkerā€ you could usually find him happily sharing stories and chatting about current events with friends, family, and every one in between. Before his retirement Ron enjoyed a long career at the Winnipeg Free Press (1967-1999) as a pressman and the man in charge of the floor for many years. For over 30 years his work ensured that the Free Press was ready and waiting for his community each day, ready to break the news, and serving as a way to bring the community together each day over their morning coffee.

Ron was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by: wife Carol Walker; daughters, Wendy (Mike), Sharon, and Connie (Vance); grand children, Amanda (Scott), Andrew (Jasmyn), Nichol (Daniel), Mellissa (Antoine), and Emma (Brett); great grandchildren, Isla, Vaeda, Luna, Theo, and Mabel.

Ronald’s life will be celebrated privately by his immediate family. We thank you for your love and kindness as we adjust to life without him.

For those wishing to offer condolences to the family you may reach them individually or send messages in a guest book located at the Wojcik Funeral Chapel.
