RUTH “MUTTI” CHARLEBOIS
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ruth Charlebois on the 31st of October 2022 at HSC hospital at 66 years of age in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She passed away peacefully after a brief illness of blastomycosis amongst her chosen family.
Predeceased by her wife (Colette Besserer), her beloved Opa/grandpa, and her much loved pets/cats (Theo and Bumble berry). She leaves behind her stepchildren Sharon Dowd and Karen Dowd, her grandchild Colette Meyer, her mother (Marion) Sister (Sandra), and some close friends.
Ruth was born in Iserlohn, Germany where she immigrated to Canada in her younger years. She has had many occupations over the years (cook/chef, factory/assembly line, stay at home wife, survey interviewer, etc.). Her hobbies included star gazing, where she had multiple maps of stars in the sky and where she would map them out on her own for viewing, collecting mystical creature (dragons and fairies) where she decorated her house with them, writing poetry, her love of surreal/fantasy books/tv, shows/movies. She loved working with her hands, building her own furniture (bunk beds, shelving, tables) and creatively painting designs all over her house. Her characteristics that are admired were of her unbridled honesty, take no nonsense attitude, sagely advice, and her loving/caring nature to help others even if she wasn’t in a position to do so.
An informal celebration of life will be held at a later date (can email here kdowd162@gmail.com for details). Place of interment is in Chelmsford, Ontario where she can be reunited with her wife. She will be forever missed and in the hearts of those she has loved. Special Thank You for all the nurses and doctors that were involved in her care during her final days.
